It was a significant part of the facility that was removed to build the magnificent new Central Library. It is unfortunate that funds need to be raised now to replace what's gone, but there is no need to study it to death. As you said, Barbara Flanagan, that's been done. Let's get it built!

No disrespect intended but "all we need is the money" and so many wonderful things could occur. It seems however that we do not have the money. Our taxes jumped this year again and will I predict jump again next year. I just don't get it. If there is no money in the check book for basic needs how do we justify this type of expenditure? Lets get education fixed and the crime rate down to the point where we can feel safe in our back yards at night and gaze at the stars.

The county just discovered that the city was $3,000,000 off in its budgeting. We're already seeing stars from the botched merger - why do we need a planetarium?

we can barely afford to keep the library open. Crime is through the roof. who needs the damn planetarium?! Go by a telescope.

when the new downtown library open. the first thing i did was call to find out about going to the planetarium. (i still havent been in the new library thou) i was then told that it would be a few years before it was built and that it should be done by 2009. so are they telling us now that there wont be one ready for the next generation of children to veiw. I think people want this not for adults but for the kids.maybe crime so high cause the children in the city of lack of positive things to do? buying a telescope doesnt cut it i would rather have the planetarium in that building than the library it's self. it's election years be carefull of who you vote for. if we didnt have donkey's in office managing our money maybe there wouldnt be budget issue.. isnt there other library's in the mpls area shut down the downtown location so we can afford a planetarium. why did we build a new library anyways
