I like Tice, not sure he was head coach material, but we always had good O-lines under his tutelage.

Tice has a brilliant offensive mind. The Vikings should have considered re-hiring him as head coach.

Agreed cobol1. Mike Tice was better than Childress and Frazier combined. Scrooge McCombs gave Tice little to work with and still Tice made Vikings football exciting and unpredictable. Firing Tice was the first of Zygmund's many colossal errors in dealing with the Vikings head coach situation. maybe tice wasn't the best coach in the NFL, but he was better than anything the Wilf's have hired since.

Tice had his opportunity here with the Vikings and at that time they had a franchise QB as Culpepper was in his prime. The best he could get out of that was 9 wins and a single playoff appearance. Not to mention he got fined by the league for scalping Super Bowl tickets. A coach with integrity never does something as asinine as that.

LOL! 9-7 would have given the Vikings the NFC North Title and home field advantage this year. Much better than an embarrassing 5-10-1 record. Tice selling his tickets was indicative only of how low his salary was at the time under Scrooge McCombs. Tice had a likeable personality on and off the field which is more than either the last two clowns had that Ziggy hired. Tice was also willing to admit a mistake after a game without hiding behind the, "We will have to review the game films on Monday" facade.

the day Lovie Smith made him the Bears OC was the day I knew it would be Smiths last year w/ the bears. as far as line coach thats more his speed.

We would have been much better off with Tice. McCoombs refused to pay for free agents and assistants and still we were more than competitive. Tice with the Wilf's willingness to spend would have been a good combo. Big mistake to let hime go.

A Del Rio, Tice, Singletary combo would have been great to see here.

The guys slamming Tice are forgetting he was coaching a team that never laid down, except for one poor performance in Seattle, that I recall. More importantly, his team was 25-27 million under the cap each year he coached in Minny. That and show me Culpepper ever making a game ending play that mattered.....He was all World until the chips were down in the 4th Qtr in GB or Chicago..

with culpepper we were 9-7 and thought we lost some games we should have won. this year, we were lucky to win 5 games. big difference
