CDC: Just 1 in 4 young teens meet US fitness guidelines but most aren't total couch potatoes

CHICAGO — Young teens aren't exactly embracing the government's Let's Move mantra, the latest fitness data suggest.

Once again, all the public cares about is Reading and Math scores. So school emphasis on fitness, Social Studies, etc. is gone. Again, we are reaping what we sow.

Nothing new, but child obesity is way down over the last few years. That's a fact.

Do NOT cut physical education - it's critical to not only physical health, but mental health as well.

@ SqUaReD80: Childhood obesity is SLIGHTLY down, not way down. But it's still at 18%. And obese children are likely to become obese adults. That puts them at greater risk for Type II Diabetes, heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancer and a host of other health problems. This is no time to get complacent.
