Woman not seriously injured when pickup plunges off interstate overpass and onto frozen pond

LITTLE CANADA, Minn. — A driver escaped serious injury when her pickup truck flew off an icy interstate overpass and onto a frozen pond below in a Twin Cities suburb.

Looks to me like the pickup flew onto a manmade retention pond, not just any old roadside pond. This seems to happen a lot. Maybe MnDOT ought to rethink freeway retention ponds.

If one cannot drive proper speeds to manage staying on the freeway, one ought not drive. From the video I saw, she was on a fairly straight stretch, no one else interfered, it was mostly preventable from what I can tell.
