There are more coaches i draed the Vikings hirig than ones I'm excited about. I'm talking about dreading guys like Horton, Bevell, Del Rio. Zimmer isn't one I dread. Neither is his fellow Bengals coach, Jay Gruden. I've heard a lot about guys like Kevin Sumlin and David Shaw from college, but what about Gary Pinkel from Missouri? He's really turned that team around and now they're doing well in the SEC. I never hear him mentioned, I'm not sure why.

i just wonder if the tuna is going to say anything negative? these guys are a fraternity...i dont understand why john pagano isnt being brought up? the defense for san diego has been panned all year as lacking in pass defense, specifically at corner. i llike the idea of jay gruden, making 3 playoff appearances with andy dalton is pretty significant. dalton is about as mediocre as they come...

I've been hearing about Zimmer for 3-4 years now. I've also heard he is tough on his players and his players liked playing for him. Zimmer learned from defensive master mind Dick LeBeau. I say sign Zimmer, sign an experienced OC and rebuild the defense through the draft, trades or free agency for the next couple of seasons. If we had a decent QB our offense will be just fine with AP, Jennings, Patterson, Wright, Rudolph.

After T-Jack, Webb, Ponder, Freeman, Cassel, I'd be willing try and sign Matt Schaub if he becomes a free agent, resign Cassel, let him and Schaub compete for the starting job and draft a QB within the 2nd-7th rounds. It's time to focus on the defense though.

John Pagano, Defensive Coordinator of the San Diego Chargers, brother of Chuck Pagano, Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts, should be at the top of the list. Both of these brothers showed new wrinkles in their play calling to move into the second round of the playoffs, most notably Johns' disguised coverages and stunts that forced 2 interceptions and a fumble by Dalton in the deciding 2nd half. John and Chuck were both raised by a lifetime Head Coach. Sound like the Harbaughs? Why aren't we interviewing this guy if Spielman is casting such a wide net?

Zimmer would be an excellent choice, but he would would only solve half of problems (Defense). I quality OC would have to join him to turns things around here in Vikingland.

Let's face it this particular coaching job is one of the least attractive in the league due to hapless ownership and an MIA QB. Expect another coaching debacle with the Wilfs and Speilman at the helm.

Jay Gruden is a football junkie! student of the game and a winner at every level. also relates to todays nfl player and would be a fresh start this team needs.

I'm starting to like the thought of Zimmer, although I still think Whisenhunt is a good candidate too. But, I am guessing Speilman won't hire Zimmer because he's opinionated and I don't think Speilman likes to be questioned.

I shudder when I hear the name Gruden. Jon Gruden's only claim to fame was winning the Superbowl with the team Tony Dungy had assembled, the year after Dungy was fired. Gruden proceeded to run the Bucs into the ground after that with losing seasons immediately after winning the Superbowl. Jon was one of the most overrated coaches in the NFL and I sure don't have much confidence in his brother either. These guys are not the Harbaughs.
