Morris' long Hall of Fame wait could end Wednesday, or it's over

But with several top pitchers eligible for the first time, the odds seem against the former ace.

It will be a shame if Jack doesn't get in, but I don't expect the voters to do it. I've never understood why inductees are determined by a bunch of people who never put on a uniform, and took journalism classes instead of going outside to get dirty.

what is the obsession with Jack Morris getting into the HOF? He was with the Twins for one year. If he went in, he will go in as a Tiger. But I don't think he belongs. His numbers were not all that great. At least no HOF material.

I have never seen one man carry a team on his back the way Morris did for the Twins in that deciding game of the 1991 World Series. Whether he gets into the HOF or not he will always be remembered by me as a real life True Grit professional athlete. He got the Twins that 91 title on his will.

No system is perfect, but I would prefer that judgements on the Hall of Fame be made by men and women who actually watched the games and use their professional standards than by boys who look at stats like WAR and WHiP and think that makes them the greater experts of what happened on the field.

What? He isn't already in? Shameful.

I'm not sure that Morris belongs in the HoF....and usually my philosophy is that if you have to think about it or research their numbers, then they probably shouldn't be in.....that said, I'd say Morris is worthy of entry more than Bert was.....

"I would prefer that judgements on the Hall of Fame be made by men and women who actually watched the games and use their professional standards than by boys who look at stats like WAR and WHiP"----on the other hand, the statheads are less likely to be influenced by hometown sentiment or hold grudges against players who weren't "media friendly"

For what he did in game 7, Jack Morris will be a legend for as long as there is professional baseball in Minnesota. Who needs the HoF...

Solid, gritty player who will be remembered as someone you'd like to have in your dugout -- but not HOF material in my honest opinion.

254 wins, 175 complete games, vote him in.
