I knew Tom Petters when he wasn't incarcerated. He was The Music Man. Totally full of you-know-what.

Every time Tom does this I'm pretty sure he's extending his prison time.

"Every time Tom does this I'm pretty sure he's extending his prison time." -- Not by much, though. In Federal one has to spend 85% of his sentence before eligibility for parole.

Were victim impact statements heard at any of his court proceedings or sentencing? I'm not aware of any. Those businesses and investors who were at the top end of his pyramid scheme, and who profited enormously from it; are we really to believe that they didn't know what was going on? Even if the state wins clawback judgments against them, why weren't charges also brought? I'm not suggesting that Petters perpetrated a victimless crime, but I think that most if not all of the investors involved were swimming in the same pool, and knew what was in the tank. This guy's sentence is ridiculous.
