don't we already have this in most counties? If you fight a ticket the prosecutor is always willing to cut a deal with you - 6 months probation - and you pay - less - plus it doesn't go on your record.

The state is probably losing a lot of money on these diversion programs. They get a cut of all the tickets that are processed through the courts. Also, they aren't collecting reinstatement fees for those that get suspended for too many violations in a 12-24 month period. Cities may be getting a bigger cut of the action now, but at least the driver keeps a clean record.

Are these classes legal or not, or is state law just being ignored? Please read this artical in the WINONA POST newspaper: Judge: Wabasha Co. driver class illegal (01/08/2014) By Sarah Squires

The state could solve its problem if it would share some revenue with the jurisdictions paying the cops. But what's wrong with diversion plan, driver pays some money and doesn't get tagged on insurance. Give me a break if state thinks it can do it better.

"Sometimes you are just not thinking and you do something you normally don't do.............." - Baloney. I drive Central Ave daily and often times I see the same vehicles going thru stop lights and charging up the shoulders, hundreds of feet before the turn lanes start. Breaking traffic laws is becoming rampant.

It seems that our state auditor is admitting that tickets are about raising revenue and not safety.

Considering that Spring Lake Park is #2 in the metro area for writing citations, just one more way for the city to make money…..
