MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — In a story Jan. 8 about Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Baca was the first Hispanic to hold the department's top post. The Sheriff's Department said he's the fourth Hispanic to hold the office. In a March 2002 story about Baca, the AP also reported erroneously that Baca was the first Hispanic to be Los Angeles County sheriff in more than 100 years. Eugene Biscailuz also was Hispanic and served as the county's sheriff between 1932 and 1958.
