Lawyers for California hospital, mother of girl declared brain, finalize transfer plans

OAKLAND, Calif. — A California judge said Friday that the mother of a 13-year-old girl who was declared brain dead after sleep apnea surgery may remove her daughter from an Oakland hospital if she assumes full responsibility for the consequences, and the two sides spent the rest of the day working out the procedures that could lead to the girl's possible transfer to another facility.
