All passengers on ship stuck in Antarctic ice since Christmas Eve rescued by helicopter

CANBERRA, Australia — A helicopter rescued all 52 passengers from a research ship that has been trapped in Antarctic ice since Christmas Eve after weather conditions finally cleared enough for the operation Thursday.

And what was the purpose of the research? Oh yeah, following the route of Douglas Mawson, documenting differences, and the effects of global warming. Spoiler alert - Douglas Mawson was not trapped by Antartic ice.
