Ask Amy: Only child is spoiled by focus on money

Dear Amy: Our 27-year-old daughter has a well-paying job and a sports car parked in the garage of her new home (with pool), which we have only seen in pictures.

Hate to say it, but the Parents are at fault for not teaching their now "material girl" empathy during her teens; they should have had her babysit neighborhood kids (this is important for the youngest in the family as well). Without learning empathy, the "material girl" will make a poor mother; she'll probably won't even consider being a parent.

It boggles the mind that parents are so sacrificing, only to their detriment. This goofball needs to be cut off and talked to, and then if she turns her back on her parents, the parents can rethink what they can do with their extra money and send it to some organization that will really appreciate it and do more good for more people.(Or spend on themselves, they'll appreciate it.) Also, in response to "mplssell": hopefully this young twit won't want children because she will probably see them only as more 'goods' to rack up. Hopefully she'll mature if the parents do the right thing now.
