Explain to me why using the light rail to go from the cedar/riverside neighborhood into downtown isn't a feasible option? isn't that what its for? people will only use a pedestrian bridge half the year anyway. Besides, it looks like its just going to dump people into a sea of parking lots. Who wants to walk to nowhere?

What a wonderful and meaningful thing to do to honor Mr. Samatar and the community of East African immigrants we are fortunate to have among us.

Samatar was not well liked in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood.

This should work about as well as the Lowry Ave bridge from the north side into NE Minneapolis.

"Mayor says stretch of 5th Street linking the East African Area to downtown Minneapolis..." --- East African Area??? Is Southwest that school in the White Area??? Sounds like talk from the 1950s. Just use the neighborhood name.

"Urban planning" via the Riverside Towers is what made that neighborhood a ghetto in the first place. Pretty much destroying the former "Snoose Boulevard" neighborhood. At that time Cedar Riverside was the "coolest" neighborhood in the city, like "Uptown" was before they started messing with it.

This seems worse than the $50,000 he wanted to spend on 10 drinking fountains. Actually it is exactly the same price tag.
