He’s grateful for a chance and for Frazier’s loyalty.

I listened to Dan Barrerio on KFAN recently and he walked through the NFL Combine scouting report on Ponder. For the most part, it is dead on about Ponder's few strengths and many weaknesses. You can easily find the report online. I don't know what intrigued Speilman so much about Ponder that he chose to ignore the warning signs in the report. In any event, it was very interesting listening to Slick Rick's presser today and how he deflected any resposibility for Ponder and current state of the Vikings while throwing Frazier under the bus.

Christian Ponder did the best he could with his abilities. Not his fault that Spielman took him with the 12 th pick in the first round when he should have been the first pick in the 12 th round.

Disagree that Ponder did the best with abilities. Peyton Manning does the best with his abilities. Ponder could work harder in preparation. NFL QBs must be obsessively driven like Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, Brees. Ponder, respectfully, was obsessed with being married.

If Frazer was given the authority to name his starting QB , he flopped miserably and is the main reason why he was let go.

It sure sounded to me like Spielman was blaming Frazier for playing Ponder too long and for using Freeman the way he did. It would make some sense on the questions of Freeman, and would explain that the statements on who gives the Vikings the best chance to win were Frazier's alone.

I'm sure all of Ponder's mistakes are easily correctable.

If Leslie would have had a backbone and stood up to Spielmann and ownership about what personnel should play, he may still have a job.

I am probably not the first, or last, to opine that Speilman is the problem and after he misses the next QB pick he will be gone as well, and the merry-go-round starts up again..

Frazier commented on the 2011 pick with Ponder and his greatest disappointment on Christian was inconsistency. Once again, it was RIGHT ON HIS SCOUT REPORT! I recall exactly in my draft magazine, they stated as many good games Ponder had at FSU, he had just as many terrible games too among several weaknesses everyone already knows about. He was horridly inconsistent in college, so why be shocked, right? Why did Spielman reach for him? 3 reasons. Ponder had nice intangibles(Smart, experience, etc), a good Senior Bowl showing and a very good individual workout. Rick got burnt cause individual workouts don’t show how terrible Ponder’s pocket presence was without any pass rush.

After this year, I'm of the opinion that Ponder DID do the best he could do - he just shouldn't have been picked where he got picked in the draft, didn't have the ability everyone thought he did, he wasn't very good, and that showed up pretty well, in his results. The best he could do just wasn't very good, at all.
