Everybody knew that Spielman was calling the shots on who the starter was going to be. Frazier was just being a good soldier and knows Spielman's plan for keeping his own job will be to toss Frazier under the bus.The egomaniac Spielman was never going to admit that he drafted a first round bust so he continued to start Ponder even if it meant flushing the season which he did. All the draft experts said "Ponder is not a franchise QB and a second or third round pick at best" but Spielman knew better. The season was a disaster in every way and blew AP's best years. If Wilf lets Spielman fire Frazier yet lets Spielman keep his job then Wilf is no better than Spielman.Fifty Two years and counting with no end in sight!

Now we get the real story. Appears the qb call wasn't made solely by Frazier. In the insecure NFL world Spielman was desperately trying to save face with the disastrous Ponder selection and Frazier is likely to take the fall.

Frazier, step up and be a man. Take accountability.

Sounds like the words of a coach on his way out. All season long it was "this is my decision alone", now it's a 'collective decision'. This was the worst mis-handling of the QB position in the history of the NFL. No excuses for the complete debacle that gave the team no chance of being successful.

likeable les shoulda stood up for himself as HC and let it be known that he would walk if not allowed his choice of qb on game-days. i can't imagine the vike's head coaching job is gonna be very appealing to potential candidates when word gets out that the vikes ownership and management micromanages to the degree it does.

I will second the thoughts of sidhartmann and slamman. You're the coach Frazier -- it's your decision who plays on Sunday. Plus that weekly cliche fest of "Ponder gives us the best chance to win". Man up and take responsibility for your decisions. Please fire this guy -- he is simply outmatched by the Sean Paytons, Bill Bellichecks, Pete Carrolls, Mike McCarthys, etc, etc, etc of the NFL.

Les, you are a nice guy and all, but we all know where nice guys finish. If you had any guts, you would have told Spielman/Wilfs, the QB decision is MINE, and if there are any problems with that, "fire me NOW and I will sure have a nice little presser telling all to the football world." That would set things straight. The REAL problem with the Vikings is the Wllfs know nothing about football. Everything they have done is a disaster from stadium issues to GM to coaching, etc. One Strib commenter recently said, 'the Wilfs are not owners, they are investers.' Enough said.

It's time for the Wilf's and Speilman to man up and tell the truth about their sticking their nose in trying to save face by forcing Frazier to use Ponder. But I agree Frazier should have maned up and told them to fly a kite!! If Frazier is fired which I'm sure he should be so should Speilman be fired for drafting Ponder!! To think he could have drafted Dalton and chose Ponder is a joke.

Hindsight is 20-20. No one, and I mean no one, thought of drafting Dalton the first round. Not the vikings, not 31 other teams. Ponder was a bust, no arguing that. So were two of the three QB's that were drafted ahead of him. But to make comments that we should have drafted Dalton in the first round is easy to say now, that would have been ridiculed at the time. How many teams passed on Tom Brady in the draft, all of them did, several times. I guess all of those coaches and GM's are idiots too. Hindsight is 20-20.

Whose decision was it to stick with the Cover 2 defensive scheme? Who came up with the predictable Offensive Plays?
