Don't even think about the Twins being serious bidders for Tanaka. And its a shame because it would be a sign from ownership to the fans that the Twins are actually serious about winning-not just about increasing profits.

It wouldn't matter if the Twins were serious bidders. He's not coming here. He's going to end up with an East Coast or West Coast team. This guy is young and sees himself being a big star. You don't do that with teams like the Twins and the Royals. And he still hasn't even faced a minor league hitter. The Red Sox got burned by Daisuke and the Rangers so far are getting their money out of Darvish.

Look at the Twins roster , now step outside and walk around the block.....Now do you think theres a chance in H E double L that a asian player is gonna choose MN???????? NYC or Cali is where he will end up unless someone loses their mind and ruins there teams payroll for years to come to get him...LEts hope we can find a power bat somehow yet in free agency...Morales? Reynolds? Nelson Cruz?

Of course the Twins will not be serious bidders. Every team will submit a bid, but all of those bids are made knowing they won't be accepted and thus not on the hook for the $20 million posting fee. Unless the Twins vastly outbid every other team by millions, it's an either coast ballgame and promotional opportunity.

The reason there is no way the Twins will ever sign Tanaka is because there is no way Ryan will ever even consider going after him in the first place. Too much money and too much risk for Ryan's comfort zone.
