Propane tank that delayed MSP traffic was empty

Authorities are now saying that the propane tank in a box that caused a two-hour travel delay last week at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was empty.

Strib, why not do the back story on this? Why was she taking the propane tank to Venezuela in the first place, if that's where it was going? The lack of propane in Venezuela is becoming a life and death issue because without it, the people can't cook their food. That would make a better story than what you've put in the paper for the last couple of days.

grumpycat - maybe because the lady hasn't called them back? And, despite the situation in Venezuela, you cannot bring a propane tank on board a plane.

The first sentence of the article says the propane tank was empty. It doesn't do much good to take an empty propane tank to a country that has a propane shortage.

I may be an idiot, but I can totally see myself doing this. Not allowed to check an item, not allowed to carry it, need to make my flight, leave the item behind.

Does not matter if it was empty. Are empty pipe bombs allowed at the airport? How is someone supposed to know its empty by looking at it?
