The guy who has started the Vikings’ past two games has come through in a way they wish Christian Ponder had.

Good article. Another reason Frasier should be fired!

Can we make sure to save this column when the Cincy Defense, which is good but by no means great, makes the Vikings look silly tomorrow? My guess is we'll then see a bunch of columns proclaiming that the Vikings need...NEED!!!...to draft a QB...with their 1st pick...IMMEDIATELY!!!

Compare Bradys demand for perfection from his backup AFTER completing a pass in practice to Musgrave saying he thought it was a good sign Patterson didn't complete ANY passes during practice in that trick play they were going to try. That's why Brady has 3 rings and the Vikings have none. And they never will until they get to the point of demanding perfection every time in every situation. These guys don't get paid to play the game of football. They get paid to win football games.

Who writes these headlines?? "Ponder still a mystery"!?! Ponder is no mystery. He is a weak-armed QB with minimal pocket presence and an inability to get the ball downfield to anyone but the tight end. Most fans could see this after 16 games. Unfortunately the media parroted the official Spielman/Frazier line the entire off-season "Ponder really improved over the last four games of 2012...Ponder has shown flashes..." Manning, Luck, Kaepernick, Wilson, even Cassel all played WELL their first year starting. 3 year evaluations? Absurd! Thank you, passive MN media, for enabling the Vikings to waste another year trying to salvage an incompetent quarterback.

The Fans knew Cassel was the right QB after the Pittsburgh. So why did Frazier and the Wilf's NOT see the light? Vikings would be in the Playoffs by now.

Let's just give it another game against a decent defense before everyone falls in love with Cassel. It isn't that difficult to look better than Ponder at QB.

I fully support any article that lauds Cassel and just hope the Vikings mgt. reads it too because they really need help in defining a lot of their starters. As for today's game, I believe being away won't phase Cassel much as he lights up the Bungles because he is red hot .And IMO Dalton gets real sloppy when pressured a lot. 5th in the league in INT's. Vikings win it despite Cook and his horrendous league high 144.8% opposing QB QBR when targeted.Vikings 37- Bangles 24.

simmys11 said it best; Cassel is a proven respectable QB, Ponder is no longer a mystery and should no longer be a viking. Question: If you released him, which NFL team would pick him up? I rest my case. Freeman? The enigma, the unknown, and he has not been give a proper chance. Frazier? At least we did not hear this week, that "Ponder gives us the best chance to win." I think Frazier fits in the slow learner category of pro football. Start Freeman on the last home game of the metrodome which is really the first preseason game of next year's schedule, and give him a real fighting chance to see what he can do, instead of joke of a chance he had with four days of practice.... The only QBs that should be released right now, are Ponder and Webb.... two roster spots we are going to need after the draft. I like Webb... but he is one of the most gifted athletes on the team, that cannot play any position well.
