We can't have online poker. Nor can we have slot machine at Running Aces or Canterbury Park after lobbying the legislature and 2 governors for about 10 years. But all of a sudden, the Minnesota Lottery (a subsidiary of state government) can have online slots?!? I am so confused.

Hand cuff the electronic Pulltabs folks and tell them it can't be like a slot machine but let the STATE Lottery go vegas style. I am also confused.

They fear expansion because they fear loss of control, which is a foundation of local politics.

I don't get this either....can the State Lottery just do whatever it wants???? Don't things like online gambling have to be at least discussed in our legislature???? Seems like a pretty big step to make. Frankly, a state run casino makes more sense....but that is impossible due to all the back room shenanigans of years ago.

CHANGE THE GAMBLING LAWS!!! Allow every Minnesotan the same opportunity to run gambling as SOME Minnesotans (Indians) have now. Allow anyone to have slots in bars! Allow anyone to open a casino! Let the free market decide when there are too many slot machines, too many casinos. A SMALL tax off the top would fund a stadium and education and lots more. This is a plan that I'm betting would pass if a referendum were held!!!

What about security concerns? There is no mention of possible security measures for the system. Just wondering why that aspect wasn't covered and the effects.

Build a state run casino right between Mpls and St Paul. This would be a fun method of self taxation to fund govt folly spending like the Vikings Stadium. In for a penny, in for a pound.
