I hope the first family gets to enjoy their Christmas vacation to his home state where they have friends to meet again and enjoy the season. All of Congress has gone home and nothing will be done until January anyway. If Congress was in session, he wouldn't be going home, either. Joe, you always mention cost but the every weekend trips to his ranch or Camp David cost money for 8 years in Bush. I know because a relative had the detail and would be gone almost every weekend away from the family. So don't get your nose out-of-joint because the Obama's take a family vacation over Christmas.

avejoecon: If you insist on complaining about you having to pay for someone else's vacation in Hawaii, I could agree to you paying for mine. As you know, President Obama didn't find it appropriate for taxpayers to pay for Presidential personal travels, etc., so he set a new precedent by refusing your tax money. I am neither so proud or wealthy, so I will be glad to take it.

The president isn't anywhere close to matching the vacation time that Bush took, or Reagan for that matter.

avejoecon: "Oh, good, What's another few million spent on a vacation." ==== Given that President Obama has spent 1/3 the time on vacation as Bush did, he likely has spent a similar fraction of the cost of Bush taking over a YEAR on vacation in his term. No complaints from you then. The GOP can do no wrong in your eyes and Democrats can do no right. This criticism of Obama's vacations is about as petty as one can be.

You think that going to his Texas home costs as much as going to extravagant exotic resorts? You people crack me up. Yes, Bush went to his HOUSE, which cost very little. OBama's current vacation will cost us, the taxpayers, over 4 MILLION dollars. If you think a 4 MILLION dollar vacation several times a year is petty to complain about, then label me Petty!
