What a sad situation. And a testament to hope that the mother can touch her child, but if she indeed is brain dead, she does NOT respond to even her mother's touch. Perhaps this delay will give a slight bit of comfort to the family, but if indeed brain death has occurred, the loved ones will have to finally accept the inevitable. The cost for a few days of support is trivial compared to the closure this act might give the family rather than being forced to have her removed from life support. Tragic, but life is not always fair.
