Gay couples rejoice with weddings and a declaration: 'I can't believe this is Utah'

SALT LAKE CITY — Elisa Noel rushed to the county clerk's office with her partner immediately after learning that a federal judge overturned Utah's ban on gay marriage. They waited in line for a wedding license and were married in an impromptu ceremony punctuated with Noel giving the officiant a high-five.

The judge nailed it when he ruled that same-sex marriage causes no harm to opposite-sex marriage and overturned the ban. For ANY activity to be banned under the law (from speeding to murder), there must be a reason (infringing on the rights of others, public health or safety, etc.), and there isn't any compelling reason to ban same-sex civil marriage while allowing opposite-sex civil marriage.
