His offense is not what it once was, but he remains steady behind the plate.

There's your offensive upgrade for 2014. Still, I guess a team isn't properly utilizing the new pitching assets if they have a catcher new to the game in Pinto. Ryan has more faith in this 2014 lineup than most of us. Clearly he figures the only chance the Twins have in 2014 to win ballgames is keep the score low.

Team might not lose 90 again, but 89 is a real possibility. They could post a team era of 4.00 and still lose with their feable offense.

Just 2 years ago, Suzuki was considered a solid every-day catcher. Last year he was shuffled to a new team and seemed to have a lot of trouble adjusting. The Twins seem to be hoping that the "real" Suzuki will show up again in a Twins uniform. Sure it's a gamble...but what do they have to lose? For the Twins to have a chance, they have to get lucky. Maybe they'll catch lightning in a bottle with Kurt. Hope he does well.

.237. Don't we have enough .200 hitters on this team? Runs are going to be tough to come by this year. Let the countdown to 100 begin

I don't mind this signing. Josmil Pinto appears to be the real deal. I love Pinto's approach at the plate. He doesn't appear intimidated and he acts as if he belongs in the majors. I hear Pinto's well-liked by his coaches and teammates, is approachable, and constantly strives towards becoming a better player. I think he will. And I think Suzuki is the right guy to help Pinto become the player we all want to see. And I really like the fact that this is just a one-year deal.

We supposedly had the best catcher in the game and we need to bring a washed up one to mentor the rookie. Speaks volumes about Mauer doesn't it?

Give the Twins SOME credit for trying, at least they are doing that and not just sitting on their butts....Hopefully they can find one more big bat to help out.....Looks like an almost new team out there.....

This is a lot better than a Drew Butera reprise.
