Professors? Who needs them?

Raise? I don't understand. This is what were paid to do. Will we get to drop their salary if they have a losing season? College Football coaching contracts are rarely benificial to the school.

Sorry, don't know too many Professor's that are underpaid. How many hours a week do they work? How many TA's actually teach the class. Keep that equation out of this.

Another Maturi move... reward mediocrity! Maybe a raise if some other school was looking to hire ANY of the staff, but the phones aren't ringing off the hook to hire Kill or any of his assistants. RAH!

So a raise for beating a bunch of stiffs after spending a $million to water down the schedule? Or maybe for getting back to 5th best bowl in the state of Texas at a huge financial loss to the B1G conference? lol You just can't make this $%^& up!!

realtybitesDec. 21, 13 9:02 AM

Why would they be in a hurry to reward a coach who still hasn't established a winning record in the Big 10 ? Will they deduct the $ 800,000 he cost us because he was afraid he to play a mediocre North Carolina team ? Fans are constantly told a coach needs 4-5 years to build a winner, why does that not apply to the coach too ? If the U jumps the gun again, it will only add further proof of continued incompetence of their athletic department.....

What a joke and stunning incompetence....

Norwood, I'd wait until after the Bowl game and after this year's recruiting class is 'in the books'. Yes, we made progress this year, but it could easily have ended 6-6 (again). So let's see if we can WIN a bowl game and get some better recruits. You can't consistently win in this conference with 2 and 3-star recruits against the other schools getting 3, 4, and 5-star recruits. Kill needs some athletic skill players (wide receivers, DBs, RBs, and linebackers) to keep this program on the up-swing. He was dead last his first three years of recruiting, and next to last so far this year (see Rivals.com). Let's wait and see if this year's 'success' can translate into better recruiting before we make a further commitment to Kill and staff. A comment above is right on -- nobody's beating down the door for anyone on the current Gopher staff. 4-4 in conference is not a legitimate reason for a raise. Winning certainly is. Teague should encourage building and reward performance, but only when it happens. Go Gophs!

Raises? Maybe a couple of percent for COLA, or a slight bump to the assistants could be in order, but it is not yet time for a big raise or extension for anybody. Up to now, Coach Kill and staff have been doing their jobs, turning around a losing mentality and building an excellent base of quality young men, who will do the academics as well as the work on the field. The Gophers are no longer the cellar-dwellers of old; they are now middle of the pack types, striving for success. When that success hits (minimum being a place in the B1G Championship game and high-tier bowl), THEN we can talk about big raises and extensions. I agree with Dewarf - keep on climbing the ladder; then good performance can be rewarded.
