39 people executed this year in the US, a 10 percent drop from 2012

WASHINGTON — Reliance on the death penalty continues to decline with 39 people executed this year, only the second time in 19 years that fewer than 40 people were put to death, a private group reported Thursday.

It will be nice to see when executions become 0 in the US

The death penalty does not deter people from committing murder, but new laws and stricter penalties on bullying will keep kids from doing it. Makes a lot of sense.
