DULUTH, Minn. — The winter has gotten off to a challenging start for white-tailed deer in northeastern Minnesota, where the deep snow and bitter cold already are pushing them into mid-winter behavior patterns.

Partly due to weather but mostly due to the increased wolf population.

Well the herd being already down this year DNR needs to look at this very seriously. People spend a lot of money on hunting and if we don't take care of our herd. With the snow, cold and wolves the population is going to drop and so will the number of licenses.

Another opportunity for the wolf haters to do their thing! Nothing matters to them but their mindless desire to blame wolves for everything bad that happens to the deer herd. Any rational deer hunter knows that a hard winter is hard for everything, wolves included.

Wolves and deer co-existed long before hunting became entertainment for city dwellers with access to grocery stores. Really tired of foolish poor hunters blaming the natural predator of deer for their failure to " bag" a deer. I live on Lake Vermilion and have deer in my yard every night. Find a less barbaric hobby. Deer up north are not very tasty. There are other things men can do to bond. Wolves are magnificent, efficient, intelligent predators. Weekend warriors are pathetic.

Hey...It's the wolves fault that the weather is so cold.

Best thing to do is knock a few trees down. The tender browse on the top of the trees will help deer more then corn or some other feed...

Way more deer than there was years ago. If you don't believe me go ask your grand father.

I smell a big deer rescue plan involving millions of dollars, air drops, thousands of snowmobiles and overtime for forest rangers.

This article can't possibly be true. Due to Global warming our winters are getting warmer and warmer, aren't they? I guess reality is an Inconvenient Truth, for the deer, and for the Global Warming nuts.
