FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State didn't waste time or miles looking for its next football coach, announcing Sunday it would turn the powerful Football Championship Subdivision program over to defensive coordinator Chris Klieman.

Wait, so NOT the guy who submitted a resume and powerpoint that highlighted his Madden superiority? No offense to Mr. Klieman, who I am sure is a great coach, but I liked Madden-guy's coaching philosophy.

I have no connection to NDSU but have admired how they have built a top program in FCS using many Minnesota kids Gophers passed over, and beat the Gophers with those kids. I wish this Klieman all the best in continuing tht. I also wish the Gophers would have hired Bohl six years ago when they hired Brewster. I think Kill has got the program on the right track, but had they hired Bohl back then, I think we would be a couple notches above - certainly on a par with Iowa who si playing a big new years day bowl, maybe on par with Wisconson

asmithe2: That was the job at the University of North Dakota, up in Grand Forks. Considering that the NCAA didn't know the difference when they sent the banner to UND for NDSU's title, I can see why it's easy for people to get confused.

I was a teammate of Chris Klieman at UNI he is a good guy with a high football IQ. They will be in good hands with Chris at the helm.

Coached a DIII school to a 3-7 record, everybody knows kids that attend a D3 school is there for an education first, sports second. Hats off to him for getting this job at NDSU. I am a Gophers first guy , but NDSU is the program I keep looking at wondering how they do it year in and year out. It's Pride.

Did Minnesota even make a push? Sad to think we got beat out by Wyoming. Bohl would be a good fit. Is it too late?

Some of these NDSU folks might start to realize there was a reason that it took so long for Bohl to get a job at another place, the "102 wins in 11 seasons," was beginning to become an embarrassment. Point is, there are some bad people that do well at D-II, Jim Tressell, for instance. Let me predict Wyoming will forget all about Jim Tressell.

Zygmumt--you're talking about why Bohl lost his job at Nebraska, right? Other than the family stuff, he's still a nice guy, you think? Bottom line, he married that Nebraska cheerleader, and what he does in Fargo was NDSU's business. Get over it.

Glenlivet, you're wrong on this. He was remarried in September to a local radio personality. And he did not lose his job for a Nebraska student, it was a fellow employee.
