Yeah, fire gay teachers! Replace them with priests! Oh, wait...

I've no problem with them firing him. It's a private, religious school, and they have that right. Rather than protest on FB, the protesters should stop giving to the school and its church. Money talks. Withholding funds would accomplish a lot more than any petition would.

Sounds like more harm was done to the principal's ego because someone had an excuse to cut the meeting than was done to church doctrine.

I believe in GLBT rights and marriage equality and I also agree with franknjack. The Catholic church is not a democracy. It can establish whatever rules it wants and you can decide to take them or leave them. I would suggest the petitioners withdraw their money, their children, and themselves rather than wasting the Church's time and their own time with a petition. There are other schools and other churches out there more compatible with your religious views that would enjoy your support.

Sorry, but if you choose to teach at a school that's doctrine doesn't align with your lifestyle, you subject yourself to termination. While I and you may not agree, that is the fact Jack. He invited his termination by publicizing his future nuptials.

Here's an idea: If you're outraged by this, don't send your kids to school there. That'll show 'em.

He broke his contract. Let him teach at a school that has no morals - that would be most public schools. Suggestion - keep your private life private. Society must not cater to the 3% that are gay and want to change everyone else. If you rub your immoral lifestyle in someone's face, you should expect consequences whether you are gay or straight.

No matter what your views are on this particular incident, a good word to live by is "discretion". For instance, I have been on my job for over 30 years and only a couple of people could tell you if I'm married or not and how many kids I have. No one at my place of employment has met my family. Get the drift?
