You would think the union would be very aggressive in the establishment of union charter schools. Isn’t the goal of education MN to keep as many children as possible on the reservation of union education?

Have you ever been to a Union meeting? Their decision capability is about the same as the legislature only slower.

Remember the teachers was formed for the benefit of the teachers only. Nothing in the teacher union about the children What we need is parent and student unions

If the charter school movement dies in Minnesota it we be the result of death by bureaucratic strangulation. The hurdles and hoops that charter schools are faced with have increased dramatically the last few years to an unconscionable level. The Democrats have really piled it on so much that it looks like movement to get rid of charters. I say this as a committed life long Democrat.

Organized labor has held back innovation and change in public schools for the past 50 years. Why should we be surprised.

Charter schools are about putting kids' educational needs first--above those of the staff. Teachers' unions are about just the opposite. No wonder this isn't working.

I am not surprised by this at all..... Opening a new school from scratch takes drive and hard work......neither of which exists in the members of the teachers union......they create nothing other than mediocrity.... Merry Xmas.....:)

While I defended charter schools in an earlier comment I know many union teachers in traditional schools, (I was one for twenty years), who are excellent, hard working educators. They do not deserve the bashing they are getting here. These people are the rule, not the exception.
