Oh wow. Good for Diana! Having a party is a wonderful idea. Talk about courage in the face of death. To have everyone you love around you and knowing it may be the last time you see them as a group or possibly individually takes huge emotional fortitude. What a gift of remembrance for those left behind.

I think this is a wonderful idea. My mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March and also given the "anywhere from 3months to a year" prognosis. Her birthday was July 3, and she wanted a big family-only party. So we did, and it was a 4 day long bash, and everyone has wonderful memories of it. Mom died in October, had a family-only visitation (which was lovely), was cremated and a public funeral. All the planning was done ahead of time which led to a very stress-free environment for everyone at the end, and much better memories of mom's last days. so, go for it! I can state for the record that it's a great idea.

Diana - God Bless you for not only your strength, but for putting your family and friends ahead of yourself. What a pleasure it will be for all your family and friends to visit with you and for you to have an opportunity to see all those you love. May you have a wonderful party! God Bless you!
