Nicole LaVoi wants us to see what she sees. So earlier this year, LaVoi started pulling out her smartphone at packed women’s sports events. She posted pictures of the electric crowds on Facebook and Twitter, adding wry messages.

This is what the male sports fans have been saying since the beginning; if you want women's sport to have parity you need to go out and support them. Realize it took men's sports nearly a century to get to the TV coverage they have today. Actually technology has made it easier for women's sports. With internet broadcasting, the barrier to entry is quite low, and one can directly count how many fans are watching. Remember this all starts with filling the stands.

The level of women's play is improving, especially in basketball. I'm a male sports fan and grew up with the Vikings, Twins, and Gophers. But the Lynx play so well I'm now going to games and watching them online. I'm a fan of Lindsay Whalen and Maya Moore simply because they're great basketball players. They need more TV exposure, and please some gear for guys! Heartening to see pretty big crowds for their games and, like Pat Summitt's UT teams, maybe they can elevate, and bring more fans to, the whole sport.

Another perfect example of this is Womens NCAA Volleyball. I love watching Volleyball and they are in the sweet sixteen stage and none of the games have been on TV yet. What a shame. The Big Ten has 7 teams in the sweet sixteen and BTN hasn't shown a game.

It would be nice to have real numbers instead of percentage increases. 28% more than how many? How many viewers compared to the T-wolves. Better yet, since that is a best to near bottom o the pack last year comparison, how about Lynx to Miami? Bill G.

As for women's volleyball, I can't watch that because of the incessant screaming. There is just too much drama. Olympic beach volleyball, yeah.

WNBA is a bigger joke than the NBA; can't stand either one.

bmonnens - ESPN owns the rights to the volleyball tournament so the BTN wouldn't be able to show the matches even if they wanted to do so.

ruphina - what screaming are you referring to? You say you can't stand that but you are OK with the constant music being blasted at beach events?

larrymick - Thank you, I didn't know that. I don't understand ESPN buying the rights for Volleyball and then not showing many games.

Why would anybody watch the WNBA when an NBA game is on TV? Yet another story dishonestly trying to hype a league nobody cares about for the sake of gender equality.
