$2,800 on minimum wage is over 2 months salary. Could have been devastating for someone in todays paycheck to paycheck world.

"“You are obligated to turn it in,” said Matheson. Keeping it would be a felony."__ This same plot twist in "It's a Wonderful Life" always bothered me. When Uncle Billy dropped the deposit into his lap, Potter became a felon by not turning it in and certainly when he kept the ruse going while the a warrant was issued for George. Potter basically stole from the Baileys and from his own bank. Nonetheless, thanks Erica for another great Christmas story.

Everyone who reads this article should honestly ask themselves if they would do the same thing... If you answered "YES", then ask yourself if you would do the same thing if it was only $100 that you found. Thanks Erica! The world needs more people like you.

In Mayberry you wait 7 days and then you keep it (unless you decide to give it back later, like Opie).

ever heard of a cashiers check? Never carry more cash than you can afford to lose, no sympathy for anyone who does.

It's good the money was returned. But what has happened to our society that just doing the moral and right thing is treated as something so unexpected and laudable?

Wonderful story. You did the right thing and I believe this act of decency will come back to you some day.

DufferH- "doing the moral and right thing" became a story when it is no longer the norm everywhere. She did a nice thing and the media made a nice little story about it. They didn't Saint her, don't sweat it!
