BALTIMORE – Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel said he hopes he performed well enough Sunday to keep the starting job, but he quickly added “as you well know, it’s not my decision.”

Cassel is taking the high road with his comments. There are only 2 people on the planet that believe Ponder gives Vikes a better chance to win and they are clueless Speilman and Frazier.

"Vikings coach Leslie Frazier was not asked about his quarterback plans for this Sunday’s game against Philadelphia." Of course he wasn't, why would MN reporters ask a silly question like that. And even if they would ask about such an insignificant topic as the starting QB, they would never cite STATISTICS like those mentioned in this article comparing Cassel and Ponder. What's the use of hard NUMBERS when trying to pin down a coach whose mealy mouthed answers about Ponder seem to be at odds with every other NFL observer, fan and reality.

So we are raving about a 86.0 QB rating? Cassel was just barely passable, he finally managed to hit a screen pass on target to Patterson (first one all year where the receiver has had to jump or reach back for it). The simple fact is we do not have a starting caliber QB on the roster.

Frazier wasn't asked because it's a ridiculous question to anyone other than Frazier.

The Vikings were kicked by the Ravens, the officials and even the catering truck before getting out of Baltimore. In spite of all that, they should have won.

I've never heard Speilman say Ponder gives us the best chance to win. Rhodes, Patterson, and a Floyd sightings lately. That was a good sign. All we need is to rid this team of Ponder, Cook, and Frazier. Not the GM.

For anyone ripping his 86 QBR yesterday, in those conditions, Ponder would have had a 40 QBR. Cassel did a great job after riding the pines this year and coming in when the season was lost.

I think everyone will agree that this season is lost. I admire Cassel's competitive spirit, but he wants to win too much. We should keep playing Ponder and start playing other guys that the team wants to evaluate for next season. Losing out would secure the top draft pick which we can get a true franchise QB. Spielman made a mistake drafting him. It happens. At least it didn't handcuff the team for 5+ years like a JaMarcus Russell or Sam Bradford.

After getting the 1st win of the season Cassel has not had a fair shot because Frazier backed himself into a corner with Ponder and the bizarre signing of Freeman. Truth is none of the 3 QBs know where they are on the depth chart because Frazier doesn't know where they are on the depth chart. Keep Cassel as backup. Release Ponder. Release Freeman. Oh and as a minor detail release Frazier as well.
