“There isn’t a safe street anywhere,” but salt and plows can’t dent the ice pack on Twin Cities roadways.

Why doesn't the county and city use sand anymore? Salt works ok up to a point but without sand it just turns the snow into grease and makes the roads worse for a few hours. Why don't they use more sand like they did up until a few years ago?

Geez, the suburbs seem to handle it just fine. There must be a special "super snow" that falls just within the borders of Minneapolis.

So road salt does not work below 10 degrees. I see stores selling salt that melts below zero. Why not use that type? Cost?

Did not see ONE plow the first day it snowed. If they'd gotten out that day, the roads wouldn't be so bad now. An ounce of prevention would've spared us this useless cure.

I am not sympathetic. Not for an agency that has my tax dollars and is now waiting for mother nature to help out.

Quit bothering Mayor Coleman and city hall, they're still working on the Saint's stadium, spring will be here soon and the ice will be gone by the home opener for the Saints.

I live in a first tier suburb. When I headed off to church this morning, there was lots of sand on the streets. And there's been lots of sand and salt mix every day this week. IT DOESN'T WORK AT TEMPS BELOW 10F. All it does is mix with the snow and make the polished ice that much slicker, like sand on a dance floor. Road crews don't control the temperatures or the weather. Just slow down, or better yet, stay home if you can't tolerate poor road conditions.

Of course, Minneapolis roads are terrible now, because road crews are not out when the snow is falling. But some people, according to the thumbs down on comments just disapprove of any criticism of anything. My, people say, it isn't nice to criticize those hard working people. Well, I am not criticizing the snow removal workers, I am criticizing my city officials who frankly, I think, don't give a rip for what the people want; like nicely plowed roads.
