Does anybody really care anymore? Wolves are a lost cause...

Flip Saunders said he wanted to see how his team responded to playing Miami with 5 days rest. I would just like to report that I was watching, and I saw no response, or pulse. Just a series of Miami layups, Miami fast breaks, and Miami players winking at each other. This Wolves team couldn't fight it's way out of a paper bag and puts up just about no meaningful defensive effort.

Another loss where the opposition scores at will - 55% shooting. It's early in the season - it's also a lost cause.

Thank you Wolves for cheap tickets again come January.

With Love out, I didn't even bother to watch. I knew it would be a blowout.

Cunningham and Barea a combined -50, and neither played more than 20 minutes, wow. Tonight was a preview of two years from now, when Love's gone, thanks to David Kahn snubbing him out of a max contract. Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhnn!

Watching the Wolves without Love is kind of like watching the Vikings without a capable quarterback ;).

This was men against boys tonight. The Wolves are doing too much isolation with a team that doesn't have any isolation type players. Martin is reverting to the one-on-one play that soured me on him when he was in Sacramento and Houston. Even Brewer is trying to go one-on-one. It's time for Rubio to go to the bench. At this juncture I believe the Wolves would be better off letting Martin play the point and have Hummel play the two. Four point guards (Rubio, Barea, Price, Shved) were 0-13 from the floor (including 0-6 from 3) for a total of 4 points, 11 assists, and 10 turnovers. Perhaps not having the pressure of starting will loosen Rubio up. He's playing tight, trying to force passes, and he (along with everybody else) cringes every time he has to shoot. Shved's shot is looking more like Joakim Noah's every game. Barea is a step slower this year; he can't break down people off the dribble like he used to. I believe Brewer would be more of an asset coming off the bench, as well. His shooting has regressed, and he is playing out of control too much. Muhammad only took one shot tonight. Nobody passed him the ball. Maybe if he learned to pass he might have guys want to play with him. Mbah a Moute acquitted himself fairly well. Adelman has to figure out some type of rotation. The substitutes the Wolves have don't have any flow or coordination. Perhaps changing the starting line up and putting Rubio and Brewer with the second unit would bring some organization to that group.

Just more proof that the Wolves brass was (still is?) over-rating Rubio and under-rating Love. Rubio is a nice player, maybe a bit above average, but that's it. Love is a star. Rubio can't shoot, gets out-muscled consistently, and oftentimes plays poorly in the half court against ball pressure. A couple highlight reel passes per week is NOT worth a max contract. We should've kept Ty Lawson.

I don't see the game as a step back. First of all, the Wolves were playing the Heat without Love, and actually played pretty good team defense, forcing Miami into a high number of turnovers. However, when Cunningham, Moute, and Brewer are on the floor at the same time, as they were at times in this game, you have very little scoring. It's bad enough having Moute and Brewer playing together, as neither can shoot. I saw signs that our team could be one of the better defensive teams in the league, but defensive energy runs out when the ball doesn't go in the hole, plus when you're short-handed... Ricky couldn't score against this great Heat team, and Pek missed as many bunnies as a former big man who used to play for us. I wouldn't read too much into this loss. The real test is whether or not our fellas will go out and beat up teams in the Least and win games they should win. They weren't supposed to win tonight, and likely wouldn't have won had Love played. We are 13th in the Western Conference with a goal of capturing the 8th seed. If we pull off the 8th seed, we should have a parade.
