Agreed that eating prepared, pre-processed foods out of a bag is bad. So . . . Why isn't it bad to eat prepared, pre-processed food-replacements out of a ViSalus bag? What does that list of ingredients look like?

Can't believe how different he looks today. Awesome for him, cuz offensive line players life expectancy is not real high, especially if they keep the weight on. Adrian can be the best, but it's going to be hard for him to be viewed in that light if he doesn't win a Super Bowl or two, which I don't think will happen. Barry and Adrian were such different backs, but I think they were the two best in each of their styles. I don't want to diminish Emmit Smith as he's definitely in the top 5 or 10, but he had a huge, awesome offensive line, a hall of fame qb, and great receivers around him. It would be scary to see what Adrian could have done the last 5 years if he was with the Patriots, or any team with a top tier quarterback. He only had the 1 year with Favre and good receivers. You also need a good defense, which we haven't had for decades.

I thought Matt Birk's cause was fighting same-sex marriage.

His $3M house is still for sale in mendota heights. My relative lives across street. Yes, both houses are nice.

While I compliment Birk for losing weight, he's still "overweight". At 6'4" tall his BMI is 28.6. He's closer to "obese" than "normal" Please do a follow up article on a football player who left the fat & muscle behind to reach a weight in the "normal" range of BMI while eating real FOOD.

kfmccarty - do yourself a favor and study how the BMI calculation was started. It is horrible science, used incorrectly by government and health insurers. With BMI, AP is close to obese too -we should all hope to be that obese. Why would you want someone to leave the muscle behind?

1. Soy protein, based on unfermented soy, which this product is full of, is viewed with grave concern by a lot of leading nutritionally-minded researchers and doctors including Joe Mercola. Do a Google search for "mercola soy" for useful reading. 2. Read the reviews at amazon on this product before you spend the coin. 3. The fact that Matt Birk has lost a lot of weight is completely irrelevant to anything. If he keeps all the weight off for two years - that might be relevant. 4. I'm a little bit surprised the Star Tribune allows free advertising.

Dr. Oz, former Harvard football player, endorses BMI as an accurate measure of heart health. The heart does not need to carry extra weight, be it muscle or fat.
