Mandela accomplished so much in regards to the goal of ending institutional racism in his native country. But he was also instrumental in pushing for and signing into legislation (in 1996) one of the most progressive abortion laws in the world at that time. Abortion on demand with no questions asked up through 12 weeks of pregnancy. And little to no questions asked into the third trimester. As a result, hundreds of thousands (probably millions) of unborn (both black and white) have been aborted over the last 17 years in South Africa. This, too, is part of Mandela's legacy. This fact should not be rubbed from the annals of South Africa's history.
