What a great effort. I love hearing about local, urban, small-scale successes. Thanks for writing about this.

Joachim Berndt's bread is great. I have bought it at the Aki Stube which was in Osseo as well as at the GAI on weekends or special events for the TCGIS and now it will be easier for people in MPLS and St Paul to get.

I grew up a few blocks from this coop and I still live in NE Minneapolis. It's nice that they're turning an old furniture store (also used to be a sporting goods store) into something good for the community. I love the idea and I will patronize the bakery. Best wishes and good luck to this coop.

I have to agree, Aki's bread, rolls and cakes are terrific. It'll be a great addition for NE. Make sure to pay him a visit early next year. It's all around great news for the area and I always love to support individual owned businesses and co-ops. This is sustainable and how a community should be!

I live in Northeast, but I don't go too far out of my way for a loaf of bread, don't care how good it is. My bicycle has collected dust in the shed for the last two summers. Might visit the taproom if they brew Pilsners and Lagers. Northeast must have more bitter tasting ales per capita than anyplace in the country, except, of course, Portland.
