I'm getting very nervous about catching. I can see Drew Butera lurking in Gardys man cave or basement, ready to come back and challenge the Mendoza Line again.

I’m concentrating now on what we can do here in the city of Minnesota to turn this team around and help this team win.”.....City of Minnesota. You can tell he is from Cali lol!

Go get Buck-he is durable, and can hit 15-20 HRs per yr, and can throw out runners. And sign another pitcher.

@fwallen: i read that the dogers resigned drew

dodgers....more coffee is needed..... @petenelson - buck is probably the best of the bunch that is left out there for catchers...unless the twins make some crazy trade for one (for the record i don't see that happening!) so take it that doumit will be the full time DH/RF guy

"The city of Minnesota", we know he's not going to outsmart any batters, so he must overpower them.

The Twins are unlikely to contend this year so play Pinto and see if he has what it takes. You have a very capable back up in Doumit if Pinto falters. Put him out there batting 8th or 9th and tell him to just worry about catching. If he hits anything at all it is a bonus. Then in a year or two when maybe they can contend again either he is ready or we will know that he isn't an every day player and can look elsewhere.

quilamolly: I kind of agree with you about letting Pinto play, but on the other hand the Twins still have about 30 million left to upgrade with. I would like to see one more starting pitcher and a catcher signed. But if they choose to spend a different way, I am OK with Pinto/Doumit. My point is that they better get the payroll up to 100 million for next year through adding more free agents. This will not even cost them anything because of the added 25 million in TV money that is coming.

A little wary of beginning the season with young Pinto who is currently having shoulder problems and is fairly inexperienced as the every day starting catcher. A concussed Doumit is not a sure thing at backup either. Jakein08 is correct in stating that with new for this year 25 mil TV revenue, the twinks have signed their two new pitchers for essentially nothing out of their pockets. I hope that this is not the last signing of FA's as the strike out prone batting order is in need of a few upgrades as well. Would be sad to genuinely upgrade the starting staff and then not bat in any runs for them. Will wait and see but not holding my breath over any future signings. I think that the twinks and Ryan have done as much as they are going to (unless more TV$$$ show up).

i like "the city of minnesota" phrase. this club exists for the 'upper midwest' [4 and 1/2 state area.] . we outstaters support the team with tv revenue, and, occasional trips to the new park, and subscriptions to news papers that heve extensive coverage of the 'MN. TWINS'. sorry about that stadium tax thing. but, i am learning to live with the guilt; after the last 3 ! twins seasons.
