REVIEW: The Guthrie Theater's "Born Yesterday" has a civics lesson, but skip through to the funny parts.

The domestic violence (back-handing Billie, forcing her to submit to demands then casting her out and then promising not to hit her again.) removed the screwball comedy aspect for me.

Generally concur with the review. Some "older" plays, like this one, are getting a bit harder to like what with our 21st century sensibilities. Like the comment before mine, the violence took the comedy away. And, BTW, what accent was Alexis Bronkovic trying to get to? It certaintly wasn't "joisey" but it wasn't anything else either.
