Dozens of same-sex couples get marriage licenses, get married as new Hawaii law takes effect

HONOLULU — Retired professors Rod Powell and Bob Eddinger have been partners in life since they met at the University of Hawaii in 1977. On Monday, they joined in marriage on the first day their home state allowed same-sex couples to form such unions.

What a beautiful place to get married! Yes, Hawaii will benefit finanacially by allowing gay couples to marry in their state.

Welcome to the family, Hawaii! What a great day! Next June, when Illinois' same sex marriage law goes into effect, 38% of all Americans will live in a state with marriage equality. Who would've thunk?
