The Gophers looked as if they might go home winless after trailing by nine in the second half.

After the Gophers went up 69-64 Chaminade was penalized a point and thus the Gophers won 83-63. Not sure how that happended but perhaps a feat they can pull off once or twice more this year.

As the smart guys have predicted, it is going to be a long season for the Gophers, especially once they get into conference play. On the other hand, I think that they will be fun to watch.

The only reason the Gophers won is because I got tired of watching them shoot the ball and seeing three or four white jerseys under the basket to grab the rebound, so I turned the channel with 8:68 left to watch Ina Garten make an apple pear crunch dessert. When I turned back to the game the Gophers were winning with 39 seconds left. Sometimes it works! But if they are just going to stand around and be spectators they'll be lucky to win ten games total. Richard has his work cut out for him.

Interesting, arrams. I did about the same thing, except I was learning how to make a butter pie crust. The Gophers seem to do better if I'm not watching them.

This Gopher team is fun to watch. To compete with the best, they need more talent. Same old story and, the Minnesota kids continue to leave the state. Can you blame them? Given the choice of Duke or the Gophers. Yet, they need to recruit better. You're all welcome.

Wow we all must have turned the channel. I never even started watching the beginning of the 2nd half. Pitino better be able to get these guys to get their heads out of their a**es and play hard no matter who it is. Chaminade has good players and some DI caliber kids. Lack of talent is one thing but lack of effort is unacceptable and I'm sure Pitino will be telling them just that.

Didn't see the game, but from the press accounts, it looks like progress was made towards the Big Ten season and that mental roller coaster -- given the Arkansas game's mental toll on a couple fronts and the physical toll of three games in three days and that it is preseason and more than starters need work, it sounds like what was expected - a bit off and that playing time would be less for those who needed a rest or reboot... And the box score had players besides the usual starters with enough minutes to work on their toughness and play... waiting for Tuesday to see how key players work together.

Doesn't help when spoiled superathlete high schoolers go after the custom-built gravy train of basketball championship colleges, instead of help bring a struggling program to glory by combining their talents together and putting Minnesota back on the national map.

at least they are fun to watch this year - no more Tubby half-court "pass it around the perimeter and jack up a desperate shot with 2 seconds left on clock"

I agree fuzzy, I got tired of high school kids having press conferences announcing that they are leaving, as if they are Labron James or something. I think young Pitino will turn things around but it will take some time.
