I always enjoyed listening to Al Malmberg on nights I could not sleep. There are not many live talk radio programs going at 3 AM. Welcome back, Al. We missed you. :-)

This is great news! Al had the only local late-night discussion on Twin Cities commercial radio, and he was a very good moderator - taking all kinds of callers. After listening to him, I always had the feeling that even though the world is maddening and confusing, we can have some time together for a calm chat to try to get things in perspective.

He was cut because he was a drug addict. Hopefully he has cleaned himself up.

If he was cut for financial reasons wouldn't that be a layoff, not a firing? Journalists mix up the two all the time.

Yes CBS radio wanted to save some costs by running its 'Overnight America with Jon Grayson' from its St. Louis studios and running it in St.Louis, Boston, Minneapolis and other locations that had CBS-owned stations. I am glad that for at least part of the overnight, WCCO is going live and local.
