Got to get Grand Marais to stay open in the winter I don't mind the 20 mile drive from Lutsen, but I want something more than pizza when I get there.

Isn't competition great? Nothing like this could happen without healthy competition. Thank you Capitalism.

"thank you capitalism", how about the multimillion state bonding bill to construct a water pipeline from lake Superior to the mountain to make the snow, and, flush the toilets in all of the resort development up there? Like a lot of private business, they asked for and got a huge outlay of state money to expand their business.

Lutsen does pretty well considering it has to compete against government supported hills in Duluth (Spirit Mountain) and Giant's Ridge. That's like starting your own bus company in the Metro area on your own dollar and show a profit.

Lutsen is in my opinion the best spot in the mid-west. I believe that some of the runs are close to a mile long.

I like the picture captioned in this article. It's good to see kids on skis an not on a snowboard, a trend that I hope continues.

Is there any tubing areas up by Lutsen? My family and I don't really ski but love the area. I think the kids would like to go sleding or tubing.

This is fantastic news. I've said for years that Lutsen is in dire need of a high-speed lift to really make it remotely competitive with the big resorts in the West. This certainly helps.
