First-year Badgers coach Gary Andersen quickly earned his players’ trust.

Andersen is enjoying a solid roster of Brett Bielema players. Wait until he has to recruit his own. I expect Wisconsin to beat Minnesota on Saturday because of their superior running game. But a couple years from now, I think the tables will be turned. Jerry Kill's track record is far more impressive than Andersen's. One also cannot overlook the fact that Andersen was a desperation hire by Barry Alvarez after Bielema, out of the blue, left Madison for Arkansas. If given a full complement of time to conduct a coaching search, I'm not even sure Andersen would have been the ultimate choice.

Cjvirnig, Ask anyone who follows Wisconsin football whether they'd rather have Bielema or Andersen coaching the team, and the answer would be Andersen. Yes, he inherited a talented, veteran team from Bielema, but his recruiting class so far ranks No. 24 in the nation according to Scout.com (the Gophers rank 64) with some big-time prospects yet to come. Unlike the Badgers under Bielema, the Badgers under Andersen have played at a peak level every minute they've been on the field and have noticeably improved their weak areas -- the secondary and kicking game -- during the season. Above all, Gary Andersen's character and integrity have stood out to all followers of the football program. Barry Alvarez only embellished his reputation in Madison when he hired Andersen.

Snoebird-well put, Andersen>Bielema. Cjvirnig must not watch or read a lot on college football. The Badger program is in great hands and I look forward to a Kill lead Gopher team someday giving Bucky a fight. Looking forward to the Ax returning to Madison for the 10th straight year on Saturday. On Wisconsin!

Of course Badger fans would rather have Anderson, Bielema dumped your school for Arkansas and now they hate him for it. A year ago they loved Bielema. I honestly don't see much difference between both coaches. Both seem to melt under pressure in close games against ranked opponents on the road and beat up on cream puffs to pad the win column. If WI ever wants to be considered a first tier program they need to start scheduling better teams and beating ranked opponents on the road...two things they've failed to do under Bielema and so far with Anderson.

It's all roses right now, but I'm going to wait and see for myself how Andersen's recruits play on the field. I'm not big into Rival recruit rankings. Minnesota's 2010 recruiting class was #51 according to Rivals and right now the team is ranked #23 in the Coaches Poll. Jerry Kill, while certainly no Nick Saban, took Northern Illinois to a BCS game and that is something far more impressive than Gary Andersen has ever done as a head coach.

1) Rod Carey took NIU to an Orange Bowl, not Jerry Kill 2)Gary Andersen has not been the head coach on a BCS bowl team, however he was the DC on the 2008 Utah team that beat Alabama.

Vikings1, I love how you only come on these boards to rip a Vikings or Gophers opponent. You are a one-trick troll if ever there was one. And how could someone so consumed with national championships carry the handle of Vikings1? That makes you a hypocrite as well. You're wrong on Bielema -- a lot of us at the Big Ten championship game wondered how we were going to be able to get rid of him -- before he did us the big favor. You're wrong about UW's schedule; ASU was on this year's schedule, LSU is up in 2014 and '16, and Alabama is up in 2015. As for beating a ranked team on the road, consider it done.

vikings1--When it comes to scheduling cream puffs at least Wisconsin doesn't have to pay almost a million taxpayer dollars to get out of playing North Carolina.
