Mr. Kadri, it is my distinct pleasure to introduce you to Mr. Rupp...

My memory might be wrong, but didn't that well known ruffian PMB get 5 games for slashing in retaliation to a slash? Doesn't seem equivalent but from what I saw, I'm glad to see Kadri get a suspension. I sure hope Backstrom will be OK. He was looking pretty good up until the hit.

The Wild will never do anything about this. We've had more Wild players go down to cheap shots with no payback than we can really count. I am sure I am forgetting some. A few examples include Mattias Ohland breaking Koivu's leg, Brad May taking out Kim Johannson in the playoffs, Taylor Hall taking out Clutterbuck last season, numerous cheap shots on Bouchard, especially by Bogosian, a couple of attacks on Spurgeon by McCloed and Eberle, the head shot on Pomminville by Dustin Brown, the attack on Heatley by his old teammate Vlasic... I could go on. This team has a long history of not sticking up for itself. Most of these incidents have happened under our current coach and captain. I find it hard to buy into the Yeo/ Russo PR that the team can't be skilled and tough. They have rarely been skilled, and they have not been tough since Boogy left for the Rangers. Some of the old school teams and their coaches will continue to take advantage of a small and mostly gutless Wild team. It will only get worse as we approach the playoffs. The temptation is too high and the stakes are too high for a coach or player not to try to take out a couple of skill players to gain an advantage. Run the goalie, concuss the playmaker, crush the puck moving D. All part of a smart strategy if you have ice in your veins. Russo- you are dead wrong about this. They need to get tougher if they hope to advance. Their skill is not yet high enough to play like the vintage Red Wings or Blackhawks teams of the past decade to simply ignore the nasty side of the game.

Well, that's just great. Toronto loses a key guy for three games, we lose Backstrom for??????? I don't understand why the rule isn't simply, "sit out for as long as our guy is out"???? If the league really wants to be tough on goon play, then something like this would go a long way to make guys think twice about where their elbows are when they make a hit or taking long runs at guys.

Oglethorpe, first, you are correct. The history is telling. Second, Russo is not dead wrong. He didn't express his opinion on whether Yeo was right, just reported what was said.

Ogle- you are exactly right! It has been going on since we got rid of both Scott and Boogie. I am sick of hearing, we will see them again, its a long year, there will be a time and a place. Yah, there hasnt and never will be retaliation for any of the above injuries. It will continue to happen. Maybe the game when Parise, Suter, Grandlund and Spurgeon are all hurt by cheap shots, maybe out for the season, MAYBE, the Wild will realize we need someone to protect our assets! Sick of the Sallies who dont thing fighting belongs in the game and think we dont need an enforcer. Fighting has been in hockey for a hundred years. If you dont like it, watch tennis, or swimming.

Oh, and NO suspension for the Granlund hit? Are you kidding me? Great job Shanny! You are STILL a joke.

@goalieguru - can you say Todd Bertuzzi? Totally agree with you.

The sad thing is that Kadri should have been shown the door after the Backstrom hit, then the Grandland hit wouldn't have happened! Wake up refs!

kenlsanNov. 15, 13 9:33 AM

After the Backstrom hit, three things should have happened: 1. Kadri got kicked out of the game; 2. Wild retaliated in kind and knocked the goon out of the game; 3. Wild scored on the subsequent penalty. None did. So, Kadri tired his tactic on Grunland and others later. Mr, Yeo, you are giving these goons a license to injure by not responding!
