Freeman happy for Ponder but he wants to play again

Two weeks ago, Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman said the Vikings don’t necessarily need to see Josh Freeman play in another game this season to conclude whether they’d want him to be their quarterback beyond this season.

Hard to blame Freeman for feeling the way he does, playing behind a never-has-been and never-will-be QB. The nonsense emanating from the Vikes' GM with respect to Freeman's value is only taken seriously in the sound-proof booth that is Winter Park. This is a franchise in free fall, despite Frazier-esque optimism following another win over Washington.

It seems that the Vikings took Gruden's MNF advice in putting Freeman back on the bench. These guys just have no clue, really. I will never understand what the Vikings saw in Ponder, and probably more so, never understand how they didn't see all the weaknesses in his game and psyche that make him not NFL material?!?!?

Sure Spielman can evaluate a QB just watching practice. Note to Rick, every QB looks good in shorts and a red jersey at this level. Even Ponder. The magic is who can make pre-snap reads and play under fire with 3 seconds to make an accurate throw. Ponder can't. Practice will not tell you whether Freeman can.

Appears both Ponder and Freeman will be gone next year, maybe only Cassel stays as a backup role. Does Leslie have the call which QB starts? Sure doesn't seem so. Having our GM put Freeman into a game after 3-4 practices was a joke.

Ponder will play terrible vs the Seahawks defense and then he will be back to 2nd string and Freeman will get his chance.

Goes to show how good our scouts are. Seattle has 2 corners from the 4th and 6th round that are way better then Robinson or Cook who were taken in the early rounds.

“I don’t know what the plan is on either side”. Frazier coached you well, Josh. That's exactly what he would say when asked about the upcoming game.

Freeman didn't exactly light it up when given the chance. He was Ponder on Steroids. His throws arer wildly inccurate. There's a reason Tampa Bay gave him away for nothing.

best 3mil Rick has ever spent on a player that sits on the bench.I bet Zigi enjoys you throwing his millions on your brain dead moves!!!If this guy is still the G.M. nxt year,Zigi and co. really dont have a clue.

Way too much invested in Ponder (1st rd) to waive him. Both Ponder and Freeman are under contract for next year, keep them both and let them fight for the starting job. Ponder never had to fight to start in MN until now and hopefully he approaches his future with a new fire. Both Freeman's and Ponder's careers hinge on near-term success which is only beneficial to the Vikings in deciding whether to keep their current stable of QBs or draft one.
