ORLANDO – Mike Pelfrey said repeatedly last summer that he hopes to remain in Minnesota. But the free-agent pitcher’s agent made it clear Wednesday that the Twins have competition for the righthander.

Thrilled to death other teams are interested in Pelfrey. Let him sign somewhere else.

Forget this guy. Seriously. Are we trying to get better here or not?! Forget Pelfrey and focus on filling out a staff with guys like Arroyo, Kazmir, perhaps taking a chance on the Korean kid, Suk-Min Yoo for a #3 or #4 spot, maybe a trade for Homer Bailey, but Pelfrey? This team gets no better with Mike Pelfrey. It's time to bring in new meat. Acquire a #1, #2, and #3, then throw Gibson and Meyer out there and let's see what happens. But guys like Pelfrey and Correia didn't get it done this year, so why would we think they can cut it next year???

Good lord, who on this green earth would be desperate enough to want Pelfrey??

If this isn't the Jump The Shark moment for Twins management, nothing is. Our "major league" team is so lacking in talent that the only free agent other teams will consider is a pitcher giving up more than 5 runs a game. Seriously, get a clue, Pohlads; Buxton and Sano aren't going to be enough to save your gate. Do your jobs and bring some players in, or sell the team to someone that cares.

Pelfrey wasn't good before his arm blew up, why would he magically improve? Why does this GM constantly look for the living among the dead?

And you have the paper on the other side of the river talking about the Twins and Bronson Arroyo getting serious about a deal, and this side of the river? Not a word.

AAA teams don't count.

The sad thing about Mauer turning down $16 million, in hindsight he's not even worth that. Can you imagine Mauer signing with Boston or the Yankees for $27 million per year and then performing the way he has? Good thing he signed in Minnesota where there is no accountability.

'Showing interest' here might be akin to showing interest in that car broken down on the side of the freeway.
