Dai Thao wins seat on St. Paul City Council

Dai Thao is the first Hmong-American elected to the St. Paul City Council.

He seems to have a good sense of finance, especially when I read he thinks streetcars are a luxury. For Mpls. to sink money into streetcars is one of the most irresponsible ideas I've heard in a long time.

He came here as a refugee, grew up in the projects, moved to Montana to get away from the rough streets of the inner city, got a college degree, and now he wants to give back. Finally! Someone who didn't grow up privileged with no sense of what it's like growing up poor. People who are born wealthy telling the poor to work their way up has no idea how hard that is to achieve.
