One thing that was very apparent, Pitino can coach. You never saw him subbing 5 players at a time. He did a fantastic job of moving players one at a time in the lineup. Oto, already has made as many 3's as he did all last year. I also was impressed with Joey King and Eliot looked great. The Gophers had a dry spell for about 5 minutes in the 2nd half but overall I thought they looked good and no we aren't going to miss Rodney or Coleman. Mbakwe, yes the other 2 no. This team is going to be just fine this year and exceed expectations. GO GOPHERS!

Good start. If Travis and Mo (doesn't get it) don't want to play here so be it. What happened to Wally.

its a first game but they look much more athletic and sure handed this year - shots were coming in the flow of the offense - the D was very good with them switching what they were running thoughout - their 3 point D looked much better also.

The Gophers are going to be fun to watch even if they don't finish much above .500 in the conference season. They pressed the entire game and pushed the ball up and took the first decent shot. Only two times did they even come close to the shot clock running out. Pitino is a solid coach. Wally was benched because of a "heated argument" with Pitino or someone on the coaching staff according to various tweets.

Ellenson changed his shooting mechanics, moving his ball hold position over his shoulder from in back of his shoulder. Most players careers end when they make mechanical changes to their shooting mechanics. Smith changed Welsh's and Oto's mechanics and minimized their careers. I request that the writer pose the question to Ellenson when his mechanics were remade so we can know who made the switch. Ellenson is of little value to the gophers now after a stellar highschool career and is a mess.
